DKI Opens UMP Adjustment Room

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Minimum Wage in 2022 was finally decided to increase by 5.1 percent based on the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Number 1517 of 2021.
The provincial government hopes that the decision will provide a sense of justice even though it was decided without an agreement between workers and employers as employers. In deciding this matter, the tripartite consisting of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, representatives of workers, and entrepreneurs has held an online meeting with the wage council. Head of the Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Office of DKI Jakarta Province, Andri Yansyah, revealed that the meeting did not find an agreement. “The times when there was no agreement were not only this year, there were also no last years. However, we involve all relevant parties. Then, the governor must decide," he said when met on the sidelines of a meeting with Commission B of the DKI Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), in Central Jakarta. Andri said DKI did not have the flexibility to make city/district minimum wages (UMK) like other provinces in setting wages according to regional capabilities. As a special region, DKI has the right to determine its own policies. "God willing, this UMP (revision) will provide a sense of justice and increase purchasing power to improve the economy," said Andri.
