Industry Chamber of Commerce and Trade Unions Discuss Second Income

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the trade unions agreed to form a working group specifically to discuss the welfare of workers until 2045.
The agreement also established a communication platform between Kadin and the trade union called the National Kadin Manpower House. Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Arsjad Rasjid said the working group (Pokja) would formulate a roadmap and program to improve the welfare of workers. In the short term, Arsjad said the Working Group would formulate a program to improve the ability of workers to adapt to the current digital technology industry. In addition, Kadin will also facilitate a second income program from family members of the workers concerned. He hopes that the program can create Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the community. "We are also talking about second income. For each household, for example, the husband works, so his wife may be able to work in SMEs. We can mentor it so it can be a second income at home," he said after a closed meeting with union leaders at a restaurant in Jakarta, Thursday (13/1). Meanwhile, the trade unions who attended the meeting were represented by the President of the All-Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPSI) Andi Gani Nena Wea, the President of the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI) Said Iqbal, the President of the All-Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (DEN KSBSI) Elly Rosita Silaban, and President of the National Trade Union Confederation (KSPN) Ristadi.
